If you enjoyed The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor, and need a new show to obsess over, I’ve got 5 shows that you’ll absolutely love. Check these out:
1. Castle Rock
Set in the Stephen King universe, this show is all about the strange happenings in the town of Castle Rock. The first season is about a boy, who is not an inmate, but who is found imprisoned beneath Shawshank State Penitentiary. Yes, the same prison from The Shawshank Redemption. A lawyer, who briefly went missing as a boy himself, tries to get to the bottom of the mystery of why this person was imprisoned. This takes place while strange things start happening around the prison.
2. Yellowjackets
Yellowjackets is about a girls soccer team whose plane crashes in the wilderness in 1996. Its main focus is on how they survive the brutal elements of this place and on the alliances and social maneuvering between girls. But it simultaneously jumps into the present where they’ve made it home, and are haunted by the decisions they had to make to survive. It’s dark and mysterious and a really compelling.
3. Midnight Mass
When a new priest arrives in a small island community, strange things start happening. Riley Flynn, a disgraced member of the community, notices this and tries to get to the bottom of it. However, people have more trust in the charismatic priest than they ever will for him. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this show as much as I did. You’ll definitely want to binge this one.
4. Don’t Come Home
This show is about a woman whose daughter goes missing after she returns to her family’s old mansion. It’s difficult to describe this show without giving away all its secrets, but it’s a truly gripping story once it gets going. The first episode feels like a generic horror story, but it genre hops into mystery and then sci-fi as the story unfolds. Don’t sleep on this one. After the first episode, the story really opens up and will take you for a fascinating ride.
5. From
This survival horror show focuses on a town that traps everyone that enters it. At night, there are terrifying creatures that stalk and kill anyone that’s not indoors. The residents of this town have to figure out what this place is, what these creatures are, and how to escape. This show has something for everyone and I’ve been loving every episode of it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to have watched The Haunting of Hill House before The Haunting of Bly Manor?
No. They’re completely separate stories with different casts, so you can watch them in any order.
Is Midnight Mass based on a book?
No. It’s an original story by Mike Flanagan. Flanagan has previously adapted Stephen King’s work (Gerald’s Game, Doctor Sleep) but Midnight Mass is entirely his own material. He has said in interviews that it’s his most personal work and it draws on his own complicated relationship with faith and a Catholic upbringing.
How scary are these shows on a scale from The Haunting of Bly Manor?
Castle Rock and Midnight Mass are very similar in intensity to the Haunting shows. From is more consistently scary, as well as more mysterious. Yellowjackets is psychologically tense instead of being traditionally scary. Don’t Come Home really only has some slight scary bits in the first episode.
