I’m Sherwin Clary

– the founder and designer behind Print Mysteries.

Hi, I’m Sherwin Clary, and I’ve been creating digital products for over 10 years.

My love for murder mystery games started as a player, not a designer. Back in 2023, my nephew and I spent a weekend trying some of the most popular murder mystery case file games on the market. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The cases were too easy, not well thought out, and honestly just not very fun. I didn’t know if I could do better, but I definitely wanted to try. I had spent years creating intricate puzzles for puzzle books and figured that that skillset might pass over into case file creation. I was right.

So afte a few months of tinkering, I made my first case. That game, A Fatal Ruse, was built for my family. I wanted something that was challenging but still made sense from start to finish. My family loved it, and advised that I put it up for sale. That led to the start of what Print Mysteries has now become. Customers loved it, and that gave me the confidence to keep creating more.

Since then, I’ve built a full catalog of murder mystery cases. I’ve listened closely to my customers and used their feedback to decide what to make next. Most of my catalog now focuses on cases that anyone can enjoy, though I also have harder cases for players who want a serious challenge. I’ve even designed historical cases set in the 1930s and 1800s, which were months-long projects that I’m especially proud of. I take quality very seriously. Every game is thoroughly tested before it goes on sale. But if a customer ever finds something confusing, I fix it and update the file. When you redownload your game, you always get the latest version.

I’ve lived in many different countries over the years, and I noticed that good murder mystery games are hard to find outside of the US and UK. That’s a big reason why all my games are printable. You can download and print them anywhere in the world, on any printer. And when you have a large group, you can just print extra copies.

Keeping games printable has also meant that they last. Some games I’ve played have come with props that you can only use once. That’s kind of ridiculous. I want my games to be able to be played long after I’m gone. So my customers are always able to reprint their games to share them with their kids or replay them someday when they’ve forgotten the ending.

After years of creating case file, I wanted to create the perfect murder mystery dinner party game that groups of friends could enjoy, but specific additions to ensure that no one would be left out. Firstly, all my murder mystery dinner games had to be gender-neutral, so no matter what combination of gendered friends you have – you’ll always be able to play. I feel like this should be standard in all murder mystery games, but most still require you to have a set number of male/female friends in order to enjoy it. And secondly, I wanted a game that didn’t have any romantic relationships between characters. This allows different ages to play, as well as making it so much easier to enjoy at work as a team building event. No one should have to feel uncomfortable when playing a game.

I’m an introvert by nature. So I’ll never be active on social media, and try automate as much of that stuff as humanly possible. What I do care about is sitting down and building great games for the people who love playing them.

If you enjoy my work, the best thing you can do is tell a friend, and share my site on your socials. It means more than you know.
