1. Black Doves

This show focuses on Helen Webb, played by Keira Knightley, who is the wife of a UK politician, but secretly works for an intelligence organization called the Black Doves. This is one of those shows that gives tidbits of information in each episode so the story unfolds slowly. But, it’s definitely not boring, there’s tons of action and excitement as you unravel a conspiracy. Keira nails her character, and I was invested in the story from the very first episode. You really won’t guess what’s going to happen next in this one. It’s truly a joy to watch.

2. Black Rabbit

This show has 2 of my favorite actors – Jude Law and Jason Bateman. Jude Law is a hardworking and successful restaurant owner and Jason Bateman plays his debt-ridden brother – who always has trouble following him around. While working hard to make his restaurant a success, Jude Law, gets pulled into the dangerous world that his brother lives in. Even though they’re polar opposites to each other, they have a strong brotherly bond. But as things get more and more dangerous and secrets get revealed, it puts a lot of pressure on that bond. Will the brothers survive the loan shark that’s now after them, and will their relationship survive when the dust settles? That’s what this show is all about. An absolutely thrilling show to watch.

3. Jack Ryan

Jack Ryan, played by John Krasinski, is a CIA analyst who leaves his desk to go out on dangerous field operations. Each season focuses on a different major threat that Jack Ryan will have to investigate. If you watched shows like 24, then you know what to expect. Lots of action, lots of suspense and twists and turns you’d never expect. There are 4 seasons to watch, so it’s a great show to binge watch. If you enjoy political drama, this is a must-watch.

4. Homeland

This show focuses around Carrie Matheson, played by Claire Danes, who is a CIA officer trying to prevent terrorist attacks. Her focus is on Brody, played by Damian Lewis, who is a rescued prisoner of war. She believes that he was turned by Al-Qaeda and is planning an attack in the US. However, as she is bipolar, and has sometimes gone off her meds – others in the CIA aren’t quite sure if she is actually onto something or is just jumping to conclusions. It’s a tense show to watch, but the acting is amazing and will definitely hook you. There are 8 seasons to watch, but I never got bored or tired of this show. It’s a great story with a satisfying conclusion.

5. The Copenhagen Test

This is a newer show that just came out, but I had a blast watching it. It stars Simu Liu as an intelligence officer who has his brain hacked. Basically, someone is able to see everything he sees, and hear everything he hears. He doesn’t know whether it’s people in his agency or outsiders that have done this to him, but he’ll have to get to the bottom of it, while being under very, very close observation day and night. This is another show with lots of twists that you won’t see coming. It sets itself up to be able to continue the story far beyond the initial hack, so I’m hoping they make many more seasons of this show. Definitely a much watch for espionage fans.
